Anyone up for a vehicle trade?
« on: August 21, 2006, 07:12:11 pm »
checking to see is anyone would be interested....

i have a fully working reliable daily driver, 1991 jetta ecodiesel converted to full TD.  i drive 100 miles a day all highway with it.  just checking to see if anyone would be interested in trading for a fully working reliable daily driver TD caddy or TD rabbit/golf?

few facts about my jetta: new tires, new brakes, new rotors, new calipers, new brake lines, engine has 88,000 mile on it body has 280,000 miles on it.  plus other new items, everything works, couple of rust spots normal daily driver stuff all cosmetic, undercarrage is clean.

im thinking of letting her go due to the real need for something with either a hatch back or bed, i would prefer the bed.  :)  well i figure never hurts to ask right?  if anyone is interested please let me know.  thanks!

Ford was never known for its fuel mileage... especially in a F250 powerstroke.  Monsterous power though    my brother used to have a 450 Super Duty powerstroke that was raping honda's left right and center.  Didn't smoke much either.

He got it from the company he works for since the motor wasn't running good.  One brand new injector and voila.. engine is eating rice.

in its class it does way better then the GAS guzzlers 20-22mpg, of course compared to a VW it seems steep but a VW doesn't have 250 HP and almost 500lb of torque, and can't tow 12.5k

hehe... you think 20-22mpg is bad...  theres a bunch of idiots where he works... who don't know how to drive diesels (warmup, and cooldown, constantly hammering the motor to the point of oblivion... etc)  so the company switched to gasoline trucks.

so my brother drives a V10 ford truck now.   The power is about the same, but it gets around 10 mpg.  Diesel is so much better.  Just have to have the patience for it.

I dont like ford anyways though.  They've always sucked.   Their top car is the Mustang, which people seem to adore.  Only the older body styles are appealing to me.  The latest is alright too.  The previous one was too rounded..  Thats just speaking styling... engine wise they suck.  air conditioning is a joke...  big rust buckets.  built for life in Canada my a$$ only cost about 100 bucks per car to rust proof it...

after thinking about Triguns offer, i really think im looking more for a rabbit or a caddy, Non turbo will be fine too.  i drive 500+ miles a week so anything less then 30mpg starts to really cut into the budget.

Well how is this to sweeten the deal, I also have a '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4 that i would be willing to talk about for a trade as well.  Just let me know, otherwise the Jeep is for sale (I just dont drive it since i sold my boat) if anyone is interested.  Thanks again!

I might be interested in trading for a decent turbo diesel, I have a 1981 vw rabbit two door

Engine and trans were taken from an 82 with 50k on them.  Does not burn or drip a drop of oil.  Put in a Sachs complete clutch kit,  Holds 85mph on flat land, And once I did 100mph in it going down hill, with a lil tail wind.  however, I usually drive 70 and I get between 40-50 mpg

New springs and struts in the back
New springs, struts, strut bearings, and snubbers in the front

New shift linkage, optima battery is one year old, new cd player and speakers, Tires a new with 1000 miles on them, both axle shafts are new. All the glass is good with not cracks or scratches.  It has A/c but it needs to be recharged, I have the bumpers i just need to put them on

No rust! car was from VA.

Rims were sandblasted, primed and painted same color as car, witch is a ford oem white.

All work was done this past summer, and I have put 1400 miles on it since then.

It is currently registered and insured

The only bad thing about it is, the dash board is cracked a little bit,  does not rattle when driving, but does make some noise when the car is first warming up.
