AAZ T2 oil drain length
« on: November 16, 2025, 09:56:50 am »
Hey folks.

So just a refresher, AAZ engines were equipped with 3 turbos:
1. mostly commonly K03
2. early G/J's had the K14
3. early B4's had the T2

So I cant get the oil drain to reach on my Garrett T2. Block and head are OE AAZ. Ex manifold is AAZ, but my understanding is these were all the same in terms of geometry right back to 1.6TD?

So did the T2's have different drain lines? Or at least the straight tube that comes off the turbo?

OR...did the turbo rebuilder clock the turbo improperly?

I have used silicone heater hose for the flex section on TD drains.

Sorry for late followup, the turbo was indeed clocked incorrectly - the hot and cold side were correct with respect to another but the centre housing was off.  After many mockups, I finally got it lined up, it was off by almost 5 degrees. G Pop shop is cheap for a reason I think.

Sometimes when it looks funky and a bit off.....   It is a bit off and funky.

I've worked with gpop shop before. Mostly for VNT-15 turbos. Never had a problem.
Let them know so they don't screw it up the next time.
Can't fix a mistake if you don't catch it.
