7 years ago a customer rolled in with a very straight 1981 Caddy pickup with 90,000 original miles. I thought it would be the perfect vehicle for a project car, so I bought it and drove it for a year with a very slow 1.6L diesel that had a terrible exhaust leak....
Original plan was to put an ALH into it. But thanks to the persuasion of Chris Sunday, he wanted to build something a lot less common. So here, after a 6 year restoration (most of which was in the last 6 months!) The Caddy is built and almost completely finished.
It's a hybrid of 4 different vehicles, the original 1981, a 1980 Rabbit, a 2010 CBEA MK5 Jetta and a 1989 Rabbit Cabriolet - I really wanted dual round headlights, so we had to lop the front off the 1989 in order to graft it onto the pickup.
This thing is a ton of fun to drive!
