RPM gauge is intermittent???

although my alternator is working and charging fully, my RPM gauge works only in the higher rpm's...I have exchanged the voltage regulator, but still get the same response

Have you checked the wire coming from the w terminal? On both my cars, it was pretty frayed.

No, I have not checked the wireing coming out of the alternator, if this is what you mean by "w" terminal.. I will look at it tomorrow ...

when ever it is cool out my tach won't read till i get to 2k,  i have a lose connection somewhere, and i am justing itching to find it :roll:

i had a intermittent tach aswell i removed the connector on the back of the alt` and wd40`d it and gave it a bit of a squeeze to help the connection.

Could be a loose belt too.  When I run my a/c at low rpm's sometimes it makes a squealing noise and my rpm's drop (belt is slipping)

only does it intermittant with a/c turned on.

I'm going to have great fun replacing that belt, let alone getting to it!
