Piston orientation 1.6 JX

Hi all,
I got myself a brand new set of Kolbenschmidtt Pistons (90732600) for my JX im rebuilding and right before putting them down the bore i noticed something that has me worried.
Everytime i have ever done anything with pistons i am aware the little Arrow on the Piston should face towards the flywheel. In this case the piston goes in only one way because of the injector cut out but the arrow is facing the other way! On top of that the Piston has the oil squirter cut out on both sides... Is this a new thing by KS? Part numbers say its compatible with the 1.6TD... pics attached.

Hmmm, are you used to air cooleds? The arrow on the vw diesel pistons points toward the drivebelt.

FYI, this is so that the pistons will work in the 5 and 6 cylinder versions of these engines which have the oil squirters on the other side. I wouldn't call it a "new" thing. They've been doing this for a long time now, but back in the very early days, the pistons only had the cutouts on one side or the other so they weren't interchangeable between 4 cylinder and the 5/6 cylinder engines.
