WTB AC Brackets/Compressor/ETC for 1.6 Diesel
« on: April 09, 2020, 05:35:30 pm »
I just picked up a 1982 VW Rabbit Diesel 1.6. The car seems to have had dealer AC, but someone removed or engine swapped because there is no brackets anymore. Hoses are there, condensor, etc is still there.

I'm looking for brackets for the AC Compressor, Alternator, and the double pulley for the crankshaft. I might want the alternator and AC compressor as well. I don't mind if it is off of the newer 1.6 engines, as long as it will fit. I'm located in South Dakota, 57369. Please let me know if you have any or all the parts!

I'll check the pile.
Where's 57369 in SD.
 Close to Iowa?

Ever get near Mason City?
Here's what I found so far:

I'm pretty sure the round piece is the backing plate for a sanden compressor so it will fit a Rabbit.
I'm pretty sure the long bar is an adjuster bar for a Rabbit with AC.
I checked all the bracket holes and they have threads where they are supposed to.
I might have an alternator too.
Haven't had a Rabbit with AC for awhile so you might need to check against picture you can find
or maybe some rabbit AC expert will post up.

I have several of the MK2 front compressor brackets,
 with the pully.
I'm not sure it will work on a Rabbit without the pully.
I do know the rabbit doesn't use the pully so it's not needed.

From what I have read, the MK2 brackets will work as well, but let me do some more looking. I may have to be piecing things together anyways. Any chance you could PM me your phone number? Beings that you are so close, we could probably do speedee shipping for a very reasonable price

I don't think you need a double crank pully.
One belt runs the water pump and AC,..
then the double AC pully drives the alternator.

Sounds like you don't get near here often.
 I'll PM my number.
You might want to start a post on the IDI fora asking about Rabbit AC parts and what is needed.

No, I dont get quite that far into Iowa! Thanks for the info, I just found that in the Bentley manual too! I'm new to all the VW stuff so I'm slowly learning the abbreviations and finding online diagrams and such. What is IDI?
