1.9td tune up.
« on: August 10, 2006, 04:29:30 pm »
hi there folks.  this is my 1st post . . i'm from scotland. . . i've got a toledo td as a run-around. . . i've done the governor mod, what a difference........................
1st attempt - added shim to main spring and replaced intermediate with a tension spring (only thing i could find with correct id. just couldnt get it to idle . . .
2nd attempt - removed shim in main spring, shortened intermediate spacer slightly. .. works like a dream. . . .
why were tds not made like this from the factory?...................
with just a slight tweek it feels transformed. . .
adjusted wastegate all way and cant get boost above 8psi, well maybe 10 but settles. . might have to boost bleed. . .
my next step will be to get a 1.6 aneroid pin, fit an intercooler and maybe a turbo and manifold. . .
the advice i need is,
is there 2 types of exhaust manifold? a 3 bolt pattern kkk, and 4 bolt pattern garrett? i know some garretts are 3 bolt also. . .
were k24 turbos fitted to 1.6 gdts? is the spool up time still reasonable for street driving? on a 1.9 td they must work even better?
thanks in advance for any advice. . .  :D
