my car has never had a properly working thermostat switch. when i got the carb the wires were hacked up so i just used a toggle switch. im kind of sick of this arragement and wish to re wire the thermostat switch to work properly. but im not sure how it works.
sence my fan is a 2 wire fan, and the thermostat is also 2 wire, im i correct in assuming that i run a power wire to the switch, and a wire from the switch to the fan. finally a ground from the fan to chassis?
hmmm what kind of motor is it? If you only have two terminals on the thermoswitch then that kinda sucks... but still doable. I believe you will need a relay to power the fan (the thermoswitch is low voltage). You can pretty much buy any good relay and hook it up that way.
I think the 3 terminal thermoswitch would be better at keeping a constant temp. Puts less load on the rad fan too.
There is definetly a relay involved. Basically power from the relay goes to the switch. When the switch is closed power is sent back to the relay which triggers the secondary circuit that the fan is ran off of.
