Big turbo TD? k26/t04e 57trim...
« on: July 28, 2006, 10:55:39 am »
just recently FINALLY aquired a td motor complete and running... in the process of rebuild it it from the ground up right now... new bearings, bolts, valve job, ported head, contemplating on going with a custom piston or just an oversize with coating...

anywho... i have a k26/t04e in my shed all boxed up from my x-flow turbo mkII project (cracked piston #3)

on a stock 8v xflow /w stacked gaskets i was seeing 20psi @ about 4300rpm

im wondering... is the k24 turbine housing smaller? maybe i could swap it for a smaller a/r and decrease spool time...

planning on making some good power out of this engine, giles pump, awic, ported, cam, 2.5" exhaust /w borla....

also does anyone know if the k24 and k26 inlet flanges are the same?

MAN im so excited i FINALLy have a full out turbo diesel motor and i can rip into it :D :D

btw, some stock stuff might be up for grabs ;)

also was looking at the GT25/40r
im looking to push between 25-30psi

maybe if you put pic's of the K26 with the size, some guys can say this is the same or not.

the k26 is a .60 a/r or .63ish... what is the k24? is it closer to a .48ish garret size?

i've seen k24/k26 hybrids before, and mine is a k26/t4 hybrid, so im hoping i can swap the hotside out for the k24 if its smaller... i'll prabably have to do some machining but thats no biggie, it would be worth it! 30psi all day long!

if not, i'll be forced to go with GT technology, dual ball bearings 8)
gt28r, gt25/40r? mmmm
