things to check for, my car wont start
« on: July 27, 2006, 04:53:44 pm »
I have had my car parked on ramps for about 2 days, I have taken off the bumper, ac condenser and rad so I could fix my oil cooler, replace a coolant hose, change thermostat and replace my lower rad support. I drove the car up on the ramps but now that I have everything back together it wont start. I know I had to rip out alot of wires to get everything off but I think I put everything back in the right place. I took off the fuel return line at the fuel filter and there was diesel already in the line. When I go to start it I backed off the nut on the injector lines and no fuel comes out. Maybe it is something with the injection pump, I dont know.

well I was looking at the pump and there are 3 different electrice connections on it, on clip with 2 wires, one wire that goes to the side of the pump near the timing belt and one that connects just above where the injector lines come off of from the pump. I check the last one and when the key is turned on it gets 11 volts so I am guessing its the fuel shut off, the other single connector I cant seems to find a reading anf my ***ty haynes manual doesnt mention what it is.

Make sure that it is getting power while the car is cranking as well. What type of car do you have?

well I ended up fixing it, it seems that I have a leak somewhere in my fuel lines because the system loss pressure while it was parked on the ramps, primed the system and it started no problem. I have a 96 jetta with an aaz in it.
