IP adjustment problem 94 Golf
« on: July 26, 2006, 10:21:53 pm »
Hey ... my IP won't rotate after a T belt change. Belt is on but engine runs badly - crank and cam good position after a couple of manual rotations i.e.  TDC is where it's supposed to be as is the cam - I can fit the cam lock back in. Re. IP - loosened the 3 front mounting bolts as well as the one at the rear of the IP. Pump won't budge - hate to use a lot of force. Am I missing something? Is it just binding? Is there a spot on the pump where I can exert some preasure on?

Any answers welcome.

Its likely it hasn't been moved before, I would say loosen the four IP lines that go on the check valves on the pump and try moving it then. You CAN, however, I dont know how reccomended this would be, put a block of wood on the front of the sprocket, and tap it with a hammer, as long as your bolts are loose, it should break free without exerting too much force on the injection pump shaft.
