A1 GTI Air dam lip
« on: May 12, 2004, 11:34:43 pm »
To help protect against cone-hits, I installed a lower lip on the airdam of my Rabbit autocrosser.  It's off a A3 Golf, and I installed it by pop-riveting it to the bottom of the Westmoreland GTI airdam.  I also reinforced the bottom edge of the airdam with some aluminum sheet, which is braced against the lower radiator support and stops the airdam from flexing when I run over cones.  Should be the last time the paint cracks on it from the flexing.  Now it's gonna be "Watch out cones - here I come!!!"  :)

You got that right... but at the same time, if you're not occasionally hitting a cone every now and then, you're not pushing the limit to the max.  It's good to be able to do this without damage to the car.  Can't wait to try it out!

you should rig up a large-scale hedge trimmer along the front of the airdam. So, rather than knocking over the cones, it'll just trim the tops off, thereby leaving them standing. Cut the corner, and not get docked time!! perfect!
I repair, maintain and modify VW's and BMW's.
Good work done at affordable rates. Welding and fabricating, too.
Performance Diesel Injection's Super Pump: gotta have one!
