I just got done installing a pressure/vacume gauge in my 2000 TDI, I installed a fitting in the 3" soft pipe that is clamped to the intake. im only getting a pressure reading, no vacume, I know that the pressure does work on the gauge, do i need to "T" into a different place?
thanks
VW diesels don't have throttle bodies and without a throttle body you're not going to see any vacuum.
so there is no way to get a vacume reading?
thanks
get a boost guage that reads psi only,ya dont need a vacuum scale
yup diesels don't have vacuum ..like a gasser..i guess you could try to tee in to the vaccum pump ..ha ..but it would be a constant reading as its a pump ..not engine load supplying the vacuum

ive got an inches of water vacuum guage from a big truck that you could put in the pipe from the filter to the turbo, itll tell ya when yer air filter is clogged, its a 2 inch guage, reads to 40 inches,i used to have one in my rabbit truck, with a k+n style filter,i never saw it move
if you do see a vacuum you need to look at the intake to see where the restriction is.
