Ooops, crunch

Ooops.  I sort of destroyed the GTI this morning.  Well, not that bad, but it'll take a little work.  I was going up a dirt road and went over a little dip at about 20mph, and bottomed out the front end.  Smashed the oil pan way in (though it still runs with good oil pressure and no oil leaks so I guess I missed the pickup and oil pump?), and broke the rear engine mount -- which made the engine fall back and pull the lower radiator hose apart and mess up the shift linkages...   Guess it isn't a subaru.    Just yesterday I was commenting that I predicted I'd take the oil pan out before the end of the year, because I'd already hit it on a few things.  Happened sooner than I thought.....

Hmmm.  It wasn't the rear engine mount I broke, but the bracket that goes between the engine and the mount.    So, I guess I'm going to return that new mount I bought, and buy some angle iron and get to some welding and drilling....  They want $350 for a new bracket, and not even sure that's the right thing either....  screw that.
