Timing selenoid question???
« on: September 13, 2004, 08:53:01 am »
Taken from SMOGS site...

"2. Now, to disconnect the connector #4 and to find a means of connecting the selenoid which is below of this connector #4 on the same wire as the connector #3 (fuel cut-off selenoid). You can let the connector #4 hang, it is now useless.

This modification prevents the pump from "delaying" the timing to reduce the Nox (polution) It is necessary that this selenoid(#4) is activated (12v) with each time the engine is ignited to keep the advanced timing even with low RPM"

What do I attatch the selenoid to, to give it 12v.
So I just splice it in with the wire ay conector 3?

Or do what i do on mine.

Dont cut the original VW harness, if you whant to get back your old setting or sell the car, better to have thier original setting.

like i (crude) draw, you put 2 wires in a male connector, plug it in the female original VW connector #3, and you plug both wire on the fuel cutoff solenoid(original plug #3) and on the timing advance solenoid(original plug #4). Leave the number 4 plug alone with some tape on it to avoid shorting.

If you have any question ask me. (Humm, i'm french, so sorry for my poor english.)
