Another MkII gas/diesel conversion question

Newbie question here. Nice site, by the way. What are the purpose of the electrical connectors wired to the switch beneath the accelerator on my '85na Golf? I'd appreciate a hint before I start pulling the carpet. Thanks.

No clue.  The only thing I can think of is a kickdown switch for an auto tranny to drop it a gear when you floor it.   Mine doesn't have it (manual trans)

Thanks for the replies. No, it's not the brake light switch, but I suppose it could be some kind of kickdown switch. Perhaps I didn't describe the thing too well. It's posted to the "stopper" on the floorboard beneath the accelerator pedal. The switch would be activated when the pedal is floored. I followed the wiring, it's marked with VW labels. My car's a manual, but I guess the switch and wiring could still be there.

It's the AC compressor cutout switch. Turns off the ac compressor clutch to free up some ponies when you floor it.

Thanks Quick TD. Bought the car in 2002 to replace the dearly departed '86 Golf Diesel. A/C worked nice but is a power robber, so it's windows for me. Anyhow, thanks for the response.
