im troubleshooting a problem of excessive clutch cable free play. the cable is maxed out in terms of adjustment and theres still too much free play. i pulled the trans off and put a new clutch in (it needed it) but im still having the free play issue., im thinking my pushrod is worn down. was wondering if anyone had a good pushrod to measure its length off and report back to me?
thanks.

thanks for the offer but the transmission needs to be out of the car before you can measure it.
is youre trans out of the car? i wouldnt ask you or anyone to bother pulling a trans just for my sake.
thanks.

Yea I have the engine in the car....in the front seat, back seat and trunk. Basically anywhere but under the hood. The trans is still in there. I was just looking at it yesterday thinking how goofy a set up it was to use a push rod for the clutch and not a fork like everyone else. Ill yank the some-beach out and measure it first thing Monday morning and post it. (unless Im forced back earlier)

When I got my current transmission from the wrecking yard the clutch cable was shimmed. Upon further removal I found that the clutch pedel bracket was cracked. Once I got the trans. home and dismantled it I found that the previous owners had a valve lifter shim under the clutch lever. I would bet this is why the car was junked.
