I sold my Rabbit D.
Why did I sell it?
It's new owner is nice, and he loves it. He walks into my shop, sees his car and smiles. Walks over and pats it, murmering baby talk to it. He pays me to unleash my ideas onto this car, never saying boo about cost, never suggesting I cut a corner. It's perfect.
But, I'm so sad.
It's not mine anymore.
I finally got it on the road today after finishing 90% of the first mod package. Jimminy H Cricket on a popsicle stick! It's amazing! Nothing ultra fancy yet, but it just works SO good. Instant spoolup, and a steady pull all the way to govenor.
In brief, so far:
1.9L AAZ with K14 turbo
Minor tweak on pump govenor, throttle arm travel maximized.
2.5" exhaust w/ dynomax straight-thru muff
A3 downpipe cut above the flex, 2.5" mandrel bent piping from there.
lightened 210mm flywheel, 2L 16v PP, kevlar disc
Power steering ( i don't know why... customer request)
drilled front rotors and ceramic pads (i said slotted, not drilled! oh well)
drilled drums and ventilated backing plates.
wackload of freshening up
FF transmission
There are several more things to complete before it's ready to release back to him, but even so, it's such a pleasure to drive.
I'm SOOO kicking myself for selling it. I suck.
see my post in the smoke tales section for a tale of rabbit power.
