Rabbit TD blows off civic.
« on: June 16, 2006, 11:50:34 pm »
On the highway, approaching the 'skyway bridge', a steep, 4 lane water overpass, the right lane magically opened up for me, all the way to the top. Jumped on the accelerator, and slid into the open lane. Halfway up, 150km/h and climbing, I passed a couple wahoos in a mid 90's civic sedan. Didn't give them a second glance, I was too busy enjoying the freakish amount of pull this car has. Over the top, let off, coast down the other side and settle into a 120km/h cruise with everyone else. A short time later, the road straightens out and the wahoos come rocketing up behind me. They blow by, dance back and forth between the lanes passing cars, then get trapped behind a transport. My lane is slowly overtaking them, so I mosey along with traffic.
A short time later, I end up beside them and slow down to match their speed. They're still trapped by the truck that has no traffic ahead of it. I jump on the loud pedal and shoot ahead of the truck, pulling into it's lane.
The honduh oafs follow suit, so I let off and waited for them to slip in behind me. 3...2...1... GO! jump back onto the accelerator and begin pulling away, 120.. 130.. 140 (steadily increasing the gap, even though he was in my draft in the beginning!) 150... 160 (they really started getting smaller now) 170.... I could feel the rev limiter kicking in, so I held it about 30 seconds to really cement the victory before letting off. I slid into the middle lane, and was doing 100 by the time they caught up, going by me like I was standing still. They slowed down and I caught up. We hammered it again with similar results. This time, when they caught up, I treated them to my ultra-insulting pat-the-mouth-yawn maneuver. Never even looking their way once, of course.
