Feeler: Used complete AAZ engine
« on: June 16, 2006, 07:49:17 am »
I just bought a complete new 1.9 AAZ and am swapping out the old engine. The turbo could be blown but i want to sell it complete. How much would the engine be worth? Just the core or complete with pump and turbo? The engine has 340,000 kms on it.

Any advice on its worth would be appreciated.  If you live in the calgary area and are interested let me know.  Thanks.

its worth what someone wants to pay for it.
thats a stupid answer but i've seen these go from $300-$3000+ in recent months so its really more about the market in your area, or if you're willing to ship it.
if it was me looking at it, and i was local, i'd give you $400 complete or so if everything other than the turbo checked out (its worth more as parts)...if i could hear it run, check compression, etc, or i was in a bind for a engine, i'd be willing to pay more.
the US never got these so you'll get the best money for it down there.

Turns out the compression is low on two cylinders and slow to build compression, the reason I wanted the new engine I guess.

I'll be lucky to get any beans$$ for it now.

Thanks for all the advice, Dave and BlackTieTD.

pistons, injection pump, and some other parts will still get you ok money if you're willing to tear into it. good luck and enjoy the new 1.9 :)

I generally pay out $100-400 for core engines depending what is needed/missing/broken etc.

I ended up selling the whole thing for $400 to help cover the swap.
