compression leak at injector no. 1
« on: June 12, 2006, 08:13:58 pm »
Hello

My engine appears to be ok after removing the head. Although I can hear
a psst sound at the injector no.1 I tried retourque but it did not help that much. I removed the injector and checked the crush washer it a smal dent on one side that apears to have been caught in the threads during assmebly I will try to replace the crush washer see if that helps.

I was wondering if you guys have any other method of improving the seal in the injectorsand glow plugs. Do you think I can use the teflon tape used in plumbing without causing damage to the injectors?

thanks

I think teflon tape would be a bad idea. Is that stuff heat resistant?

It's suppose to be heat resistant.

Anyway after replacing the heat sheild three times it seems to be ok now.

There was a small but deep scratch in the injector seat that seems to be causing the problem.

thanks
