This is some pics of my 1997 1.9Td Jetta..... I just love her hopefully you like her too.... thanks
What she looks like after i washed her....

The back end of the car with my new bigger VW Badge for a MK4 Golf and my Turbo Badge for a Turbo beetle

The side view.... with the 17" Fast Venom wheels and the car is lowered 1.5" all the way around to give it more of a aggresive look

The leather interior that i got out of a 98 Jetta Glx and installed myself.... the leather door cards were power windows so i had to measure and cut holes for my window crank

A shot at my left rear wheel... its a good close up of the rims and the rear disc brake conversion that i did.... used to be drums hehe

The car was painted recently and i baby the old girl. She has 372500Kms on her and i just love her.... I have not got anything done to the engine yet except for a K&N air filter

I plan on doing alot to the car.... open to ANY opions.... leave me a line and let me know what you think.... thanks!
Cheers Ryan
were the window motors not working? you should have taken those too
She has 372500Kms on her
Yes, but she wears it very well!
So....when were you going to lower it?
vwpod-
How long have you owned the car? did you put most of those miles on?
BJ
I have owned the car since i was 17 and im just about to turn 20. I have put 200000kms on the car myself.... i work in Vaughn as a diesel mechanic witch is a one hour drive from my house and is 92kms one way! My dad was the orginal owner of the car..... He paid $24,000 for it brand new, and those were the days when diesel was only a $1000 extra option at that time! My dad got a 2004 Jetta Tdi and paid $3000 more than a Loaded 1.8T. For the lowering question.... the suspension in the car is a Koni Coilover suspension.... i have to car lowered 1.5" all the way around... i had the car lower 2.5" all the way around before they car was painted and the rims were installed.. the biggest problem with that was when i installed the new wheels and lowered the car to 2.5" all the way around again the wheels were rubbing in the front fender wheels..... i did not want to start butchering all the plastic lining in there so i just raised the car up 1" higher and thats where it stands to this day. My old wheels that were on the car were 14 x 6 and my new wheels are 17 x 7.5! Got lots more plans but not a whole lot of money at the moment. I guarentee that the car only has about 30000 city kms on it. Its all highway because its a daily commuter and was my dads also. Thanks for viewing my car
Yes the window motors where there also... but i live in the great white north and dont want window freeze ups and also am very happy just with my roll down windows lol

Also another reason why i did not take the power windows regulators is because i got the seats and door cards from michigian. I left at 7am one saturday morning and got there at 12. We took out my old seats.... took of all the door cards.... installed the seats..cut the holes for the window cranks.... installed the door cards.... installed the switches and wires for the heated seats and by that time it was about 5pm and i wanted to be back in Canada by around 7 so i did not have time to install all the regulators and also did not want to take them with me across the boarder and pay the duty tax  But meh im still really happy with my manual ones
Looks very good for 300 000+ kms. As for crossing the border... if it's used, then no problem. You can claim whatever value you want. Customs doesn't bother with used parts. Whatever, manual windows rock. I don't think anyone in my family who owns a VW has power windows because we know better.
Did you have any problems with the crank pulley yet?
Not too many make it to that kind of mileage without it being a problem.
BJ
I agree about the power windows.... as for the crank pulley... my dad never had it done and ive never had the pulley problem the only recommendation that i could say about the pulley is that if ever my crank pulley was removed i made sure that the bolt that was removed was replaced by a new bolt. I hear that if you use the same bolt the bolt fails... DONT QUOTE ME lol i only hear.... Its a stretch bolt so when it goes in it locks and once removed is no good for reuse. So no i have not ran into the crank pulley problem... knock on wood lol.... and hope not to
Moved to general. IDI engine is for power enhancement related discussion only.
