Strongly considering sell this car. If someone offers me $800 firm , I'll part with it. I'd hate to let it sit through the winter. Just running out of time to get the Motor, Trans, Dash, Cluster, Harness, Turbo, Exhaust pulled so that I can rebuild them in Mexico this winter. My house is taking longer to complete (many little things). I'd like to finish it and get it sold quickly. That doesn't leave me much time to get the stuff pulled from the car. I've also failed miserably to find a good 81-84 Diesel 2dr Rabbit with sunroof (yes I just missed a nice one on Ebay). Therefore, I haven't been super motivated to start the pulls either.

Folks,
I just purchased an 84 Jetta GL Turbo Diesel, 4 Door, Sunroof, Maroon exterior, Brown Interior. I will pick it up in a few days. Front seats may or may not be there when I get it (owner wanted them). If they are still there, than the the seats, door panels and dash are all in excellent shape and very nice. If you want to rebuild the shell, you'll need to do some welding on the floor near the strut towers in the rear and fix the cancer around the rear wheel wells.
I'm taking the Drivetrain (diesel engine, trans, turbo, alt, pump, exhaust), a few wiring harnesses, gauge cluster, snow flake alloys, that's about it.

Yes, as soon as I find a suitable 81- 84 VW Rabbit Diesel 2Door with Sunroof. I'm doing the car OEM plus...basically if it wasn't available from the factory for a mk1 Jetta/Golf/Caddy/Cabriolet/GTI/Scirocco then it's not going in the car. Still leaves allot of possibilities.
I fully intend to have to rebuild the drivetrain (head, rings, clutch pressure plate...new radiator) from this jetta for my future rabbit.
I'll write the project up as soon as I acquire more donor cars and parts.

i thought the idea of oem plus was to make it way better than factory, but still have it look like it came that way from the factory.
kinda like this
but i still feel bad for the jetta :^(
but it's your belongings not mine.

I have one fellow here in Upstate NY who is interested in the Radiator Core Support and the Fenders already. I might see if he wants to just cut the stuff off and leave me the shell. At that point, I'd part with the Dash, Console, Door Panels and other trim pieces.
The Brown stuff is in really good shape. I had half of a mind to pull it all for myself for the Rabbit build, but I really do want black as it allows for more flexibility with seats and exterior colors. So I'll part with it.
Let me talk to the fellow who's interested in it first, then I'll let you know what I have left to sell. Overall, the car is in better shape than I had remembered. Just needs allot of welding at the rear. If the fellow takes the fenders and core support, it would still be a good shell for someone wanting to put a Single or Quad Cabrio front end on it.
Shipping will be tricky, however, I once sold all of the exterior GTI componants off a car (wheel arches, bumper overriders and ends, Spoiler, Rear Wiper/Tank) and shipped it all to Texas.

sounds good. let me know about the fenders. i'd like them for an 84 GLI i bought without fenders. does the dash have any cracks? there is a local guy here looking for the brown stuff... i have that same dash in my rabbit, brown and all, but he's looking for zero cracks, excellent condition.

I doubt the dash is absolutely perfect, it may have a hairline crack or two. I have to go take more pictures this week/weekend of the core support, I'll have a really close look at the dash too.
In fact, the pictures I posted on this site are shruken by 75%. Let me have a look at the orginals and see if something comes up. If it does, then I can report it...if not, then I'll have another look, in person, up close, just to be sure.

My pictures, which are 2832 X 2128 pixels show no defects. However, I'll have a look in person on Friday or the weekend and report back to you.

no go on the dash
in the pics it looks like the lower part of the passenger fender got mashed. do you have any other photos or do you know how bad that one is?
