Has anyone replaced the cold start o rings on their injection pumps? I don't want to have to take it to a shop to have it done.
I want to learn how to do it myself.

This should be interesting. Definately will be a clean work area. Plan on cleaning it before I take it off.
It's about a 2 min job if you have the pump off. 2 screws, take the arm assy off, replace the o-ring, put the arm assy back on, 2 screws back in, done! Even I can do this one.

I know at least for the front cover of the timing advance, you need a funky torx-type tool to fit into the bolt heads. Not sure if you need those for the rear cover where the timing advance lever is or not. But anyway if it's got the torx, don't use an Allen as the bolts can be corroded in and it takes a lot of force required to break them loose, which will run a high risk of stripping those torx bolts.

Thank you very much for that info. I have quite a few tools, including alot of VW special tools. I was a VW and Mazda tech for a few years. :mrgreen:
