89 jetta diesel WVO
« on: May 31, 2006, 02:43:06 pm »
I guess it is time to sell. I need a truck, and will needa 4x4 come winter. 89 4 door 5 speed DIESEL!
166000-225000 miles, I'm not sure. The last registration said 166k and that was 2 years a go. The odometer, not working, said 650k. I put a working one in and it says 204k. Not like it matters with the diesel and all, the engines are good for 300+.
The windshield leaks like there is no tomarrow. I just toss a rag on the dash to soak up the water.
The dash is cracked.
No rips in the seats, some stains ans spots. But what do you want from a 17 year old car?
The motor runs like a top. I've turned up the pump for a little more power. It can be turned down no problem.
All door handles work!!!
It has no sunroof so the headliner is plastic and not sagging like most do.

I have recipts for:
new radiator
4 new struts
Front brake roters
Heater core(pain in the ass to replace)
I replaced a few anti freeze plastic parts on the block
New block heater
New driver ball joint
New battery

Inspection sticker good till sept.
A/C works like a mofo, I just recharge it.
Everyting works fine.
ONly thing it needs is a passenger miorr and windshield gasket. The miorr works fine, it is just glued all together.

I've converted this to run on waste veggie oil. NO, not biodiesel. WVO. Theres a 12 gallon tank in the trunk, and 2 switches. I've run over 500 miles on it. I currently have 400 miles on 1/4 of a tank. This car would be a great car for someone who drives alot. The more you drive the less diesel fuel you burn. Has some rust, but has been fixed and painted over.

I'll take some pictures when I feel like it.

Looking to get 3 grand for it. But I wanna sell it so make me some very good offers.

I painted the hood with black and white spary paint. The old paint was burnt off, and keyed. If it is a real problem i can find a new hood for less than 50 bucks. The radio will be an extra 150 bucks, dont really wanna sell it so I'll get what I want for it.

It has some rust on it, but not much and the rust on it has been fixed and painted over.

Rims and tires probaly dont go with the car. it will come with ok rims and tires on it.

I came home from school one day in 4 inches of wet snow. Its only a 5 mile drive but it wasn't fun at all. The last 1/4 mile to my house is up hill and its one hell of a hill. It was all I could do to make it up the hill going forward. I was in 3rd gear pegged, just luggin it shooting roost off the tires. I figured I'd have to back up the hill but the ol jetta made it up. Maybe it was cuz i had summer tires on it. That is the last time I'll drive it in the snow.

Some one buy this thing.

probably, i bought the narrowest/tallest tires i could find for winter (p155/80r13), did a test run before the install, and after. its like night and day compared to the summers.

good luck with the sale!

I've got the smoke screw on the pump turned up, about 2 turns in. Its the screw on top of the pump with the 13mm lock nut on it. It smokes quite a bit, but only when up in the rpm's. Putting the screw back to stock and it will hardly smoke. It does a wonder for those tailgaters, and motor cycles.
