hey guys i threw my boost gauge on my diesel, and most of the time its pegged at 20 psi. It easily goes past 15 psi under full throttle. Im just wondering wtf is wrong with it, the stock boost should only be like 7 psi

its tapped at the vac line going from the compressor housing to the injection pump over the valve cover

Sounds like someone defeated your wastegate. If the engine is making too much power for you, you can always reconnect the wastegate... :wink:

ive never driven another diesel, i will have to see how much faster my car is but it feels slow ahah, so the gauge seems installed right for you?

If you T-ed into the line from the intake to the pump, you should be seeing true boost. These engines are easily capable of 20 psi boost under full throttle if the wastegate is disconnected or otherwise defeated, and if the pressure relief valve on the intake manifold is bypassed or blocked. If you are seeing 15-20 psi boost at normal cruise, then something is wrong. You should only see a few pounds at a steady 40-60 MPH on flat ground.

Let us know what boost you are seeing under different driving conditions and we can give you better information.

perhaps you need to change your fuel filter. A clogged filter can cause a lot of constriction and cause strain on your injection pump. I get about 10 PSI max at full throttle with my 85 N/A jetta. Anymore than 15 and I'll change my filter.

N/A is "normally aspirated" ... i.e., not turbocharged.
