New on the site but have been viewing for a long time have a question about where to install my manual boost controller.
I have a 1989 jetta 1.6td
I have added the 2.5 inch down pipe from passanger performance full 2.5 all the way to the back new nozzles from td tuneing also popvalve block off
egt guage mounted pre turbo boost guage.
I have turned up the max fuel screw and would now like to add more boost
I bought the kinetic manual boost controler from concept1 but would like to see a picture of where to install it.
Once it is installed how high can I turn it up 15psi?

I have gotten a lot of great information from this site and dave at passanger performance.
Once some one can help me with the boost controler I hope to buy an intercooler from passanger performance. I know dubcanuck is from Calgary maybe I can trade some beverages for a little mechanical help?

I called kinetic motorsports they said the vacumn line coming from the intake goes into one side of the boost controller and the line going to the waist gate goes in the other side. then turn the adjustment screw in to add boost?
Is this the same line my boost guage is conected to?
Does anyone have a picture?

optimal resuts are said to be withe the MBC as close as possible to the WG actuator, in the air presssure supply line with the the ball seating away from the actuator, and the hoses as short as possible.
the line to the boos guage is usualy a dead end on diesels, signal to the WG comes from a fitting tapped in the edge of the compressor housing.
My car has 2 hoses, so i had to ignore the 'return' hose, and port the crap out of my MBC so it would flow enough to control spiking (drilled from 3/16"to 15/64" or so)
If you have a 'safety' BOV, leave it enabled untill you get good consistent results..

thanks for the response
are you saying that the mbc gets spliced into just one line the air pressure supply line I just have to add 2 small hoses?
sorry for all the questions very new at this.

heres what happens when a garrett was used on my tdi-m,with closed wastegate,at the track, and water/meth injection,it had a bizillion (probably 250k,never rebuilt)miles on it though,it owed me nothing, and iwas askin for it

actually, that was my first trip to the strip about 2 months ago(that was on unlucky run number 13,ironically,run 12 was the fastest, the 14.07 i ran)i dont know,,iwas expecting the track officials hand it to me,,the pipe is funny if you feel it,the turbine did a "barrel roll" and left dents like a "barrelroll" in the first couple of inches before it exited
scared the crap out of me i thought i just blew up 5000 dollars
i remember rabbittree used an old ballvalve once for a boost controller, that was fun(and sensitive too)

so can someone take a picture of where the boost controller has to go? i got one today and i want to install it, but i wanna make sure im putting it in the right spot. I'm looking at a pdf file of the V.A.G service manual for the turbo systems, but cause it was translated from german its not the clearest to understand. thanks for the help.
so would this be the hose i put the manual boost controller in?

Yep one hose goes there and get a "t" joint to connect your boost gauge into the boost controller and LDA/Intake manifold line.

nice so ya now i can peak at 15psi, but it drops to 12psi as the bov does its job. as for a weird thing, say im going up a hill where i use more boost itll be at 12psi but then will drop to 5psi then climb back up to 12psi. Any ideas?

Did you buy the boost controller from concept 1 or did you get something else.I am going to install mine once I get the pump to giles next week. I was going to look at a front mount intercooler from lordco next time I am in BC
Have you checked them out. Can you post a pic of your boost controller installed.

Don't get a FMIC from lordco, if you are out in BC give me a shout and I will install a FMIC for you, of excellent quality, both the custom plumbing and the aftercooler itself.
