so it is a SMART car, it has a 0.9L 3 cylander cdi turbo diesel. it makes about 48hp and about 70F-LB. it is a semi auto with red line around 3900rpm. my friend jujst bought it and we lined it up with my jetta. very close race. i was about 1\2 car ahead for 1 and 2 gear. then he got his boost and we were neck in neck for my 3 and 4 gear and witch point he had no more gear and was at about 3800rpm. i was doing about 130kmh when i started to slow down. it was a very fun race i wish i had a video of it. thought i could do better but it has a lot of power, bit i guess it does only weigh about 700Kg

I've chipped one of those. The biggest reason for their slow 0-100km/h acceleration time (~19 sec) is slow shifts. Reaaaaally slow shifts. I can probably drink coffee in between shifts (after tapping the shift paddle). There are chip remaps that can cut down shift times by 30%.. very handy.

Anyway, when chipped they are quite fun to drive.

It's 0.8L by the way, not 0.9L.

The shifting sucks big time yes... I drove one with a modified boxmanagement, that shifted close to normal and it was much more fun to drive, the gassers sound like a F1 engine in the back

How much would one of those chips cost?  I've been contemplating a Smart car for our next newer car purchase.  Can't beat a car designed by Mercedes with wicked mileage for under $17,000 CDN.

The price is listed on my site, here:

My site is still under construction by the way. And I'm establishing a second diesel chip dealer in Rhode Island, USA. There is one chip dealer in Quebec that is closer to you.
