Umm yeah, the rallye has a totally different intercooler.The GTD is GTD specific. It sits near the battery and is oriented face up.Although, if you can get a rallye intercooler, that would be even better, just make sure you are planning some serious boost to make it work.Try looking at www.ebay.de and look for "Ladeluftkuhler". Unfortunately, I dont know how to make the umlaut (sp) for the second "u". You will need to have that for a successful search.
The component that really sets this engine ahead of other G60s has to be the VW Motorsport intercooler and air duct that was originally developed for race spec Rally Golfs in the late ‘80s. Since the piece was developed as part of the factory Motorsport program, the fitment is clean and looks as if it was there the day the car rolled off the assembly line. Air is intended to flow under the driver's side headlight and into the duct, though NGP chose to improve on that by fitting the car with a custom fiberglass hood with built-in air scoop.
The intercooler is from a GTD.
I would be more apt to believe that the IC in the pic is one used on models that HAVE AC.
