Do a lookup of the rallye. It had the same setup for the shrouding and whatnot. I'm pretty sure it had the same intercooler.

Umm yeah, the rallye has a totally different intercooler.

The GTD is GTD specific. It sits near the battery and is oriented face up.

Although, if you can get a rallye intercooler, that would be even better, just make sure you are planning some serious boost to make it work.

Try looking at www.ebay.de and look for "Ladeluftkuhler". Unfortunately, I dont know how to make the umlaut (sp) for the second "u". You will need to have that for a successful search.

I'm selling one from a GTD.

No shrouds though - the parts are obsolete to.

The RA/SB IC looks like the GTI G60 one with air cond.
The Rallye has an FMIC or SMIC (don't really know the exact setup).

Is this not the same setup as the GTD? It's a quote from vwvortex's featured car "the color of money" http://vortex3.rely.net/artman/publish/article_313.shtml

Quote

The component that really sets this engine ahead of other G60s has to be the VW Motorsport intercooler and air duct that was originally developed for race spec Rally Golfs in the late ‘80s. Since the piece was developed as part of the factory Motorsport program, the fitment is clean and looks as if it was there the day the car rolled off the assembly line. Air is intended to flow under the driver's side headlight and into the duct, though NGP chose to improve on that by fitting the car with a custom fiberglass hood with built-in air scoop.

There are a few things wrong with that.

The intercooler is from a GTD. The car is not even a rallye.

If you would like, I can take a pic of the Rallye Golf intercooler that I have sitting on my shelf. It is about 2.5 times the size of the GTD unit. It is a front mount unit that sits in front of the radiator.

It seems that someone says they have the intercooler a few posts up.

I really don't know where did the man get the "Motorsport" idea. :?
That's a G60. It's the stock IC from the air contitioned versions.
It just happens the IC looks pretty much like a RA/SB one, but I belive they are actually different. The inlet and/or outlet is the difference.

So,... it's not.

805c and 805d

You are correct sir. I must say that they look very similar. However, I would be very curious as to how the AC models utilize the cooler that I have and swtill have space to fit the condenser.

I would be more apt to believe that the IC in the pic is one used on models that HAVE AC.

either way, thanks for the info! Learn something new every day.

Group buy?!  I'm in!!

I've been looking for a while.  I'd really rather buy the whole works so its a bolt on deal.
Below is some stuff I googled up a while back:

Looks like a fatory parts diagram, no numbers though:
http://www3.telus.net/greenough/images/gtdicdiagram.jpg

A2 GTD intercooler is 11.5" wide, 2.5" thick and 9" tall. The part
number is 191 145 805A and it is manufactured by Langerer and Reich.

link I found:

GTD intercooler is standard type, and G60 is crossflow type, that is the difference...
