I got a 1988 1.7 diesel vw transporter. same engine as 1.6 golf D im told?
It uses up water, about an expansion tanks worth over 30/40 miles.
oil doesnt look watery, theres no mayo in on the oil cap,
theres no smoke when it starts and starts from cold ok
no leaks when i stop of water, however, oil does leak fromthe dipstick tube after a run
that pressure in the oil makes me think its the head gasket. the reason im seeing no mayo is cos the oil cap aint at the top of the engine.
does this seem right, i guess i could bleed the coolant system but im sure that wont help.
any ideas? maybe take the rocker cover off and look under it?? cheers
