I get on avg 500-600 miles (800-975 kms) on 15 gal (@ 60L) running 70-75 mph (120-125 km/h) with my Quantum 1.6 TD with nearly half a million miles in it. It used to get over 700 miles per, but I "think" it's getting a little tired.

suspose to take the fluid tencion from the fuel like soap does to water. and this helps the fuel to atomize better on some engines gas or diesel.
if you are going to try it start small at 1 oz per 10 gal mix and not more than 4 oz per 10 gal. and it is a solivent so when you put it in do it at the station and fill it up after pooring it in. some people see 3 to 5 mpg some do not. you must find what your car likes. and if no change first tank do it again for the second than see what it does.

Its performance related because I was hoping to get some some answers from people who might not have there engines stock.
great response so far guys. I used to get about 900km/tank with my stock 1.6D Golf so my 1.9 is kinda letting me down.

Not too shabby at 25k shy of half a million miles

Sorry 'bout the hi-jack

I'm sure you'll get your mileage up... You'll have to fiddle though... with exhaust, air filter; fuelling, timing and injector pressure...  Have I missed anything  EDIT: There will of course be a weight issue

Your original posting makes no reference to your 'hope' for non-stock replies. My posting was also non stock  and performance related  as my one 'Q' that was doing 'well' has a drop in 5 cylinder large bore exhaust a cloth air filter and could do over 800m per tank. My curent one does 500mpt at best... One of my quests was to pool results from fellow 'Q' drivers and see if compression reduction has a significant result.

Alain your 'Q' was like my first one a 1982 VW Santana. This was made with Audi parts which were of a better grade than VW... Ran with a 1.6 gasser modded with a Weber 100+ mph and fairly regular 29mpg US

OK let's see, I have a 2.5 inch downpipe and exhaust system through a flowmaster stainless steel muffler. A rebuilt 1.6 1V turbo ECO diesel enginewith 14k mileson it, with a Giles modified pump with an LDA added to it and my best tank has been 710miles, 1142.63klm to a 14gallon fill up.  On average I get 48mpg, general running 55 to 70 mph on my 50 mile round trip to and from work.

I'm happy with it. I wonder if I got a K24 turbo if it would make a difference over the K14.  I like the way the K14 spools up so fast. :D

i think my tank lasts for around 400miles, i dont know why but it dosent seem to be very economic.  the engine is rebuild 15k ago and it does pull well.  i think i might have to play with the pump a little to make it more economic, also will install an intercooler to free some more power and use less diesel.

Any other way to improve consumption?

Was driving an A3 TDi recently 99 yr and they seem much more economic than mine :x

Blimey 400 miles/ tank?
Solutions/reasons
1) Your rebuild mechanics swapped a gasser in whilst your head was turned.
2) You're driving a tank with a VW badge.
3) You have a limited edition drug smuggler's fuel tank.
4) You drive like Jake round a track.

..Ok jokeing aside

Is anything binding?
Do you have pre-rebuild mileage?
Smokin' ?
