at the drags today, the best i could get with the kkk was a
[email protected],,,at least 2 mph,and 2 tenths slower than the garrett,,i kinda had a feeling    gonna look for a k24 off of a audi5 cylinder, and make a manifold
,,i did smoke an integra type r,,what a pile,,he trailered it in,and had dot drag tires,,he got like a 14.5or somethin,,way back there,,whybother?i drove there, getting 50mpg+,and still beat him
,,the rt's are better, thanks lord verminnard your tip worked,,my rt's :.624,.984 yawn,.755,.656,.595,,,gettin it a little ,it just feels wierd leaving on the last yellow

sweet is that with the tdi m or what is it and what is it in? Nice times but a little sleepy at the light. If your eye is fast enough you can brake that last yellow almost down into stages i usually get a .250 or a bit lower. My best was a .053 which i thought i red lighted. remember from the time you see the light turn green it takes a human four tenths of a second to release the clutch and for the car to start rolling so you have to leave early. Sweet time though

smokeydub,this is the tdi-m,from what i understand they still do it the "old " way,like a .500light is perfect??,,i thought they changed that :?: :? its(engine) in my 79 rabbit,the grey one i got pics posted of,,need some more??ok,
as far as boost,dvst8r,im lettin it go ""close wastegate, max boost",it goes about 30- or so,,32 maybe at the most,i need a bigger turbo

Hillfolk'r that's strange that it will only hit 30-32psi, and is probably the reason for the loss in time vs the 35psi that your garret would make.
After I blew my garrett I put on a kkk and it would easly wrap my 35psi gauge if I let it. That kkk turbo of yours may just need a rebuild, but you are probably on the right track just finding a bigger turbo. I have heard of some guys that were running a k24/26 hybrid with good sucess on a 1.9idi.

I've found that the k24's wastegate seems to open with exhaust backpressure at around 24-25 psi(boost).I've tried controlling boost at higher levels than that but it does't work!Even if your making the same boost as the T3 your losing energy through the wastegate being forced open with the backpressure. The spring in the wastegate is not that strong and when your pushing 40+ psi backpressure it will open accordingly(regardless of disabling the wastegate).
The T3's turbine housing is more open (less restrictive) than the k24's,I believe this is the reason that the T3's work better as it's wastegate stays closed untill higher boost levels.
You could try bottoming out the adjustment on the wastegate(10mm lock nut,5mm allen screw),I belive that if you thread it in until it bottoms out,you will effectively keep the valve from opening .Try that and let us know if it helps any.
Also I've seen many k14/k24 wastegates that have been seized open slightly due to carbon and people not letting the wastegate work by getting full boost often enough!

i saw the locknut, i got it to break loose, and i twisted the allen enough to let me know i can get it unlocked...ill tweak it tomorrow before i leave work, and "test" it on the way home,im willing to try somethin, and give it a chance...actually i think my garrett was a little tired,it didnt spin nice by hand , it never did,may have been a little coked up or something, the kkk feels ok.and the compressor wheel looks good, not worn or anything,i could see the edges on the garrett werent as "crisp" as the kkk. (my allen was a 3mm,by the way?no biggie)thinkin about doing that audi turbo though,,should be pretty good,1.9 is almost a 2 liter anyways.

i cranked 'er in till she bottomed out!! im talking about the wastegate screw....um, right now it pegs the needle around again!! sweet!! thats where my power was, or at least some of it...i may have to re evaluate this topic again, hmmm    i have to hook up my 45 psi guage and see what its really doing for boost pressure, but it seems like its close to the garrett for power, but i still think i felt more mid- top end power with the garrett though.maybe this weekend again ill get some numbers,,my clutch isnt happy till it warms up,i.e.:slips some, and it's getting no better  thats it!!! im gettin a 4puck sprung center disc from passenger perf. , he's got the hookup!!!

im gonna tinker tonite,to see if i can just run it in some, and not totally disable the wastegate,i hope, but at least now i know i can put it on full tilt for the drags though,,,,,

You can control boost with that screw alone,It basically can be adjusted to stay closed .Its very sensitive adjusting at higher boost levels,an 1/8 turn can make a big difference when unseating the valve.I'll still stand by the k24 .

now im gonna carry my wastegate adjusting tool kit with me10mm socket,visegrips,3mm allen, i break the locknut loose with my socket+visegrips, and put the allen in the center, seems to work good!!
