i got one coming into work next week,,,,the guy had us rebuild the pump,,but the guy said its down on power,,he didnt even time it,i figured i would start there,,i found a spec of 24btdc. all the info i have is 300d diesel 5 cyl mercedes,,,,i think i did one years ago,but i cant remember how idid it,,,i was thinking i would" drip time" it,anyone know if this is the procedure/ way to do it?
"Spill timing" it's called, where I come from. You remove the injection line and delivery valve for the #1 cylinder, set the crank at the specified timing (24ºBTDC, in this case), apply fuel pressure to the feed port on the injection pump and turn the pump until the #1 fuel fitting just stops dripping. This indicates that the #1 pump element fill port has just closed and injection on the #1 cylinder has started.
yea spill timing,,sorry,i figured that is the deal. ill just hook up a "new" inlet, and outlet line, with an electric pump in there . i sort of have a "rig" for that setup,,sweet!!! shouldn't be a big deal then
