Wastegate mods for 1.6TD

I've searched and can't find any straight info on it. Can someone point me to a thread for closing the wastegate on the 1.6TD. I can find one for the 1.9 but not the 1.6. I'm going to do the max fuel mod and the bov mod but the BOV does nothing without the wastegate mod from what I'm told.

do a search for wastegate bleed or bleed wastegate. You want to trick the wastegate into thinking there is less boost or no boost at all so your turbine keeps spinning fast and creating more boost.
you accomplish this by cutting the boost line going into the top of the wastegate (there might be two) and either plugging it up or hooking up a bleed valve.

Am I supposed to be trying to bleed the pressure in that line out of it? Or plug it to boost the pressure in the line?

Plug or modify the blowoff valve first.
The boost line ot the wastegate can be plugged, but you need to watch your max boost levels. If you want to control it,then you bleed pressure off that line to control the wastegate.

I found the line that I'm 99% sure is going from the mani to the wastegate (it's hard to see back there). It was a rubber line coming out of the elbow that goes into the top of the intake mani and then goes into a steel hose that runs down to the wastegate (at least it feels like it does when I follow it with my hand). I pulled the hose of the steel hosing, put a bolt in the end of the rubber hose and placed the clamp back on. I'm pretty sure it's doing the trick but I'll tell better this weekend when I get the pressure gauge in. For now I'm just keeping the revs really low.

Mine (stock k24) has a steal line from compressor scroll of the turbo to the wastegate. Small line that is visible at top of turbo just below the elbow to the rubber boost tube.

I think this is the rubber line you want to "trick", right?
I'm thinking of doing this soon as well. I've got a bleeder valve (ebay boost controller) that a friend gave me that I can put in line with that hose by adding a bit more hose.
I'm probably going to start out with 12-14 on the Garrett and try to adjust fueling from there...all the while looking at the EGT gauge...

Yes I just pulled off the rubber line and plugged with a bolt for now. That's the one.

If you have a steel hardline, then remove bolt banjo bolts and pull it off the car.you can now cut out a section to add in some rubber hose to block it off or add a boost controller.Lines stay on better if you put a little bubble flare on the ends where you cut it off.

Is a boost controller on the wastegate just a valve that opens at a certain psi depending on where you set the dial, OR is it just a valve that allways allows a certain amount of air out at all times and the more you let out the lower your max boost is?

yea use an old shop air regulator,,,basically the more you would pinch off the rubber hose ,the more boost you get,,so use the regulator in that line, and dial it closed, tolimit pressure to the wastegate,,,i dorunit closed quite a bit,,the other day,,my buddy drove it,,i watched the boost guage,,in 5th above 80 or so,,it was peggin a vdo 30 psi boost guage around to the zero stop peg in the guage????idunno 35-close to40?? its fun and fast

So it's limiting the air to the wastegate, not holding it off until it reaches a certain psi. So really any valve would do as long as it'll hold air?

Just get a cheap manual boost controller, you can get them for around $20 or less, doesnt have to be anything fancy.
