T3 or K24?
«

Have an AAZ out of my car for a swap into something else (I'll post pictures when I'm a little farther along). Early engine with a K14. I have 2 T3's off 1.6 engines on the shelf, and 2 K24's still in cars on 1.6 engines. Looking at the T3 I'd have to do some oil return fabrication. Any chance the K24 is a direct hookup? Can't get a good look where they are sitting. If it will work better I'll pull another engine out to get the K24.

Going with the T3... forgot there's a little modifying required on the intake manifold. There's a boss with a bolt hole in it that's in the way. Not sure what it's there for, I don't need it. Still need to figure out the drain.

Thought hard about doing that.... K14 is tired and needs a reseal at least. Engine just came out of a mark 2 jetta (replaced with another one with 0 miles on a refresh) that has a K14. Always wanted to try a T3 on this engine, and it's going in a lighter car with slightly lower gears so spooling shouldn't be an issue. Had 2 T3's on the shelf...

Pull and disassemble the head and give it a good porting.
If it is like my heads and KKK 24's, turbo lag will be a non-existent issue. End of story.
For the life of me, I can't imagine running any of these sans a good port. Running a standard port head is like running a foot race carrying a large brick.

Got the oil drain figured out. Screwed the return line out of the K14. Unbolted the return line from the T3. Fabricating a small plate to bolt on the T3 and threading the K14 return line into it. Might have to clock the turbo a little for the return line to clear the exhaust manifold heat shield.

if you have the drain that bolts to the k24/t3 you can just cut the crimp off and combine with the aaz lower drain via an oil rated hose like i did
