MK2 Custom bumpers

I have an 86 golf TD. Instead of slamming the car I want it to look more like a crossover. As well as installing B4 towing suspension, I would like to put custom bumper on the back.
These are other examples, but no bumper mod:

I want to create a bumper/toolbox (like at the rear of an airstream)/tow hitch.
my example:

So, my question is about weight distribution of trailer hitch. Is this connection style appropriate? Is this where proper tow hitches are bolted (pulling the whole bumper assembly and inserting new bumper)? Will weight be too far up/too far back?
thanks, -m
