Author Topic: What is causing this after head gasket and injection pump rebuild?  (Read 2092 times)

I rebuilt the injection pump for a 1.6d and replaced the head gasket and rebuilt the head. I got it fired up but it instantly revs high after it starts. It'll rev high for 3-5 seconds then slows down really quickly until the revs are below that of an idle and it will run very rough at this point until it eventually stalls. What could be the issue?

Got clear fuel lines?

Kind of sounds like the spring under the top lid is not in place correctly.  Pushing on the collar like it is full throttle.  Then governor pushes back on it somehow.
