I read a bunch about smoke and am confused about a couple things.
I have white/grey smoke at cold and idle which clears up once engine warms up. I think I've read this is ok, correct?
Then of acceleration (even moderate) I get a bunch of black smoke. So I know I can turn down the fuel screw, but I like the power ;-). Are there other options to reduce the smoke?
Thirdly, this seems weird to me.... At high cruising speed, I don't have smoke, but when I let off the pedal to slow down I get a huge plume of smoke. This seems counterintuitive to me. Does this make sense? Is this a symptom of something other that just running too rich? Why would this happen?
BTW, it is a Giles 1.6NA pump.

Maybe try contacting giles... The guy who built you the pump..
And if the smoke is thick and black you better have a egt gauge installed or you are likely to melt the pistons.
do you have guiles email? iīm from Brazil, here we donīt have a person to tune the pump.

Performance Diesel Injection in Ontario, Canada is his business. That's the easiest way to contact him.
