Head will definitely respond well to a port job.

IDI injectors are pretty much fine for any power level. They have such a large opening already they don't really restrict fuel like direct injection ones do. However there is a different pop pressure for turbo vs NA injectors.

Are you adding a turbo to an NA engine?

Not really much in the way of cam options. The cam in the 1.6 is pretty decent already. There was a Dr Diesel cam a few years ago that had some noticeable gains. Last I heard Giles at Performance Diesel was selling them but I'm not sure if that is still true.

Exhaust you're looking for about 2.5" - turbo vs NA of course changes things.

Does a port and polish help much on the economy side???
Or good only for racey-racey ops????

I thought a P & P did good things for getting more air into the cylinder.  That gave better combustion and that led to more power.  More power could be used for speed or ?? less foot on the throttle thus giving better mileage.  Anyone have numbers for that?

i don't think porting will hurt mileage.

if you're not going to turbo it i'd stick with a gas engine.

if you are going to turbo it... a port job and he200wg turbo will be a load of fun.
