So finally, turbo swapped.
Now running a T2 Garrett. SB turbo as it has the water cooling bit too.
Running a moderate 12psi boost.
What is a safe bet on a T2, 15-16psi?
And one more question with regards to the way my engine revs.
When I floor it, even when standing still, the rev counter goes to 4200 rpm smoothly, then at 4200rpm, there's a slight pause, or the rate of increase of rpm slows down for half a second. Then it starts to rev again upto 5000+rpm.
Why is there a slight hiccup?
Any ideas?
I'm assuming it has something to do with fueling.

Im not sure about the your pause in rpms, but 15-16psi should be about right for a t2, especially if you are revving it that high
If you reduce both fuel and air (boost) proportionately, your EGTs will not change. You need to reduce fuel and/or increase air to lower EGTs. I think 1250°F (675°C) sustained is a good target.
Hi guys.
When you say 675 deg Celsius sustained, how long is sustained?? 30 seconds?? 1 minute?? 1 second??
Like when I drive on the highway, the max I've been able to achieve is 146kmph while controlling pedal to ensure EGTs remain under 700C.
Please advise.

By 1250 sustained I mean adjusting the fueling so that if you keep the pedal floored for an extended period of time (several minutes) the EGT gauge does not go above 1250. You should be able to maintain that temp as long as you like. Fueling so that I need to watch the gauge and back off when EGTs get above a certain point is a recipe for damage. It can take many seconds to get a correct high reading due to hysteresis, especially with the larger 1/4" probes. Literally over two minutes later they still will not read actual peak temps... so, if you are driving overfueled and relying on the gauge to tell you when you need to back off, you needed to back off a minute or two earlier. The next time you pull the head, don't be surprised if the pre-chamber inserts are loose and cracked and there are cracks running from the pre-chambers to the exhaust valves.
yes be cautious with egts, you're also only getting an average temperature across the 4 cylinders, 3&4 run much hotter, especially #3 runs hotter than the rest.
Now my EGTs are not crossing 680-690C. Fifth gear, full throttle, doing a 150+kmph, EGTs are sitting at 690C. So I guess that's OK now.
Now the sitrep is as follows.
Max boost is 11psi. But my car is not as fast as it should be at the top end. The max speed I've been able to do is 156kmph. If I had a long enough straight, it would've touched 160 but nothing like some of the videos I've seen on YouTube.
