swap AAZ with tachometer
« on: April 06, 2017, 11:04:43 am »
If the donor car from which I took the AAZ has a tachometer, does this mean that the alternator already have the W terminal on it or the tachometer takes his signal from somewhere else?

The AAZ gets its tach signal from the alternator, yep. The alternator has its W terminal as part of a 2-pin connector which also has the blue wire from the charging light in the cluster.

Thanks for the answer!  I got the blue wired hook up, will be doing the tach later on. I got the cabrio with no engine and transmission, so all the wiring were disconnected, so am still figuring out all the wiring for the gauges, oil pressure, oil temp, volts, fans, etc.  Engine should be running pretty soon  ;D

Nice , im also doing a cabby with an aaz , mine was automatic with the 1.8, its obviously going 5 speed so ill have to figure out pedals from a mk3 jetta and cluser from a mk3 jetta, I knew the build wasnt exactly unique but I wouldnt have thought it to be "popular".
