Since my rabbit rusted out last spring I was wondering how many more are left...

according to this

http://www.cnn.com/2006/AUTOS/04/12/rabbit/index.html

it looks like there will be several more. So they won't be the A1 but at least they're rabbits :)

I'm from Europe, but I think this is a nice idea. Back to roots.  :P
Have allways liked the Rabbit designation along with the NA specific bumpers, grille, etc.  8)

http://media.vw.com/article_...[/url]"]The Rabbit goes on sale this summer in both two and four-door versions, with pricing starting at $14,990 for the two-door. Standard features include an advanced ABS braking system, traction control, active front head restraints, front side airbags, air conditioning and anti-theft alarm system with remote locking. Always known for its value, this latest Rabbit is no exception, offering a high level of standard features and equipment at an attractive starting price.

Only $15,000 USD for a brand new MKV Rabbit with more than enough standard features? That's a hell of a deal. Compare to a Toyota Camry, $16k Corolla, etc.. I'd be hesistant of a MKIV chassis, but the MKV is such a huge improvement (VW is getting their act together this time..) and I'd take one for $15k anyday.

I hope VW offers a SDI or TDI engine. Even a 90HP 1.4L 3 cylinder will suffice, seeing as the MKV Rabbit is not a MKV GTI but rather an economy car.

If the 1.9L or 2.0L SDI has turbo-ready internals then I'll take that one instead :D

A few of the existing VW TDI engines:

90HP 1.9 ALH TDI
100HP 1.9 BEW PD TDI

130HP 1.9 PD TDI
150HP 1.9 PD TDI
140HP or 170HP 2.0 16v PD TDI

Seeing as we're already switching to ULSD so the more powerful TDIs may be offered in regular MKV Golfs for $28K CAD here in Canada, it would be sensible to offer the engines I bolded above in a Rabbit. The PD100 could be tuned to around 200HP or more.

I like the return of the Rabbit name, BTW.
