Would 12vr6 lifters fit hydro 1.6D / 1.6TD head?
« on: July 22, 2016, 12:28:41 pm »

Currently my 1.6td in my caddy runs well on a replacement used head. However it seems to make lifter tap tap noise.

I have set of used working lifters from my VR6 when I upgrade that to INA lightweight lifters.

Would 12VR6 lifters fit and function on a 1.6TD?  ECS link below indicates it's the same part.  When I replaced the valve stem seals in my 1.6tD head those lifter, the plunger part in the center of each lifter looked different to me...

Used followers with a different cam than they have worn in on are a no-no. The cam and followers wear together - you can put new followers on a used cam but never swap used followers to anything but the cam they were mated with, or you'll get accelerated wear on your cam lobes. The used followers will be slightly dished.

Thanks got the tip. I haven't done anything more than drive my caddy for the last month.  The hydro lifters noise sounds normal now. I guess if some were stuck then they have loosen up and work properly now. I was careful to put each lifter back to the exact location to where it was. Guess I won't try to fix what's not broken, lol
