Having issues finding good replacement bolts for the two that hold the compressor to the tensioner. They bolt fell out and I tried some bolts but the heads are too big to get the wrench in there. Sockets are also too big. And ideas? What are the stock sizes if anyone knows.
I do not know for sure. IIRC they are M10-1.5 x 20mm or something close. Get a socket head cap screw to whatever size you need and it should work fine.
i donno if you mean the 2 'special' threaded if you want to call them bolts. 1 on the left, towards fender is a 'cap' bolt, and is special. the other is threaded to take a long bolt that adjusts tension.(like an 'eye bolt').keep in mind both of these are the upper support/adjustment 'bolts' i have all of these, (along with the long adj.bolt) as 8x1.25. try autohuas az, or partsplace, you can still find them used, maybe canadacatylist, (in parts section/or vendors). the long adjustment bolt sits below the (as i know it) the alt, goes striaght down to the 'right side' eye-bolt. and can be hard to find, i end up cutting my own.
Thanks for the info head cap screws sound like a good option, Just to clarify on the below schematic I'm looking for the two bolts on #10. Searched through most parts sites but there's no specifics.

Sorry for the ignorance but what do you mean special? I would't be able to get it at a store?
update: used end cap screws and i was able to tighten it up with just an allen key and ratcheting wrench. thanks guys
your diagram is inaccurate, lets concentrate on #10, and those fasteners, the rest of the diagram i dont know; #10 for me is much different, and to speak ive been to the vw dealer about this 'type' of pic, cause i dont know what model or how that(yours) looks -(#9), and the (#10) fasteners can work and adjust. (the bolt going thru my #9 is the adjustment) although my #9 is part of #10 but to the right,, etc, etc. but to say my vw (dealers)pic is inaccurate and not helpful. i dont have anything your going to find at which store.? unless you think of washers, and nilok nuts.
can also try napa and look at their pic. (just guessing at accuracy of pic)
