international RTV T442 RTV SILICONE RUBBER,international,,,,as in trucks to be clearfile:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/user/My%20Documents/My%20Pictures/2006-02%20(Feb)/HPIM0075.JPG
Use Permatex "the right stuff".It's probably the same stuff as the International stuff.Best sealant there is.
its thick and grey,,best toput a small dab on a part, and smooth it out with your finger,,its what international seals their oil pans with on the power strokes, they have no gasket,,,seems more like harder rubber than normal silicone,,,all i know is,,its wicked stuff,,,everyone iknow who removes a power stroke pan,,,better get out a hammer and straighten the pan rail back out,,its got a wicked bond,,its nice to hold the valve cover gasket in the corners for the "red worm",,,,,,the tube says some crazy stuff like its a thixothropic ? sealant ,,ill look that up later,,,,
ohyea,,heres another one thats good,,did ya know locktite can be corrosive to the fastners????heres a good substitiue, has about the same strength as the blue locktite,,,,use 3m weatherstrip adhesive!!,,it has about the same strength as the locktite, with no fastner damage,,,,,heck i love this stuff,,use it all the time,,,,glue nuts into sockets, soi can get in a tight area, with the nut in the socket,,,,put on a dab on a nut,,assemble in socket ,,pull it slightly apart,,blow on it to dry it,,stick it back together,,,heck,, the other day iused it to hold a patch panel in place before i welded it,,i needed a 3rd hand, thats this stuff,,,,,when i put on my duckbill spoiler,,all i had was plainmetric bolts and nuts,,,,,,how do you tighten them up,so it didnt crush the spoiler, yet hold it in place tight enough so hardware didnt rattle off??really needed nylock lock nuts,,but a dab on threads,,and nut,,voila,,instant locknut!!!,,plus itll glue all kinds of materials together,,,,coat both sides, and let dry, like contact cement,,one of my favorite chemicals in the shop,,,,,,,atwork, iprobably go thru about a tube a month or so,,,
its thick and grey,,best toput a small dab on a part, and smooth it out with your finger,,its what international seals their oil pans with on the power strokes, they have no gasket...
VW part: D 176 404 A2 They use it on all of the aluminum pans in place of a gasket, MK4 cars and newer. It's the toughest stuff I've used.

Moved to general section. I appreciate the contribution, however this doesn't seem to be frequently asked question section worthy to me.
