thats an extremely rare mk1. very few td coupes were made, i think especially since most of them were higher trimmed gl cars, and most people getting a gl probably wanted a 4 door. you could get a turbo diesel in a gl or a base model, i have badges for both.
I also talked to a friend in Germany recently and asked him about Mk1 Coupe TDs. He said he hasn't seen many over there either... So it is rare to find them over there also.Nice looking Jetta TD sir!! Had one same color!!
Don't know how many of these cars they made either. I know mine came from the factory with the 1.6td and the three speed auto, and I've been told that would have been a special order only car. PO blew the turbo motor and replaced it with a NA 1.6 but that's not a big deal as I already have the mTDI (and a 5-speed) ready to swap in. But in its current state it gives new meaning to the word 'slow'!
