ECO AAZ oddities
« on: November 10, 2015, 09:06:21 pm »
Currently working on cleaning up the bay of my eco AAZ and am getting rid of the egr stuff among other things.  Ive read about this changeover valve that limits/ controls boost.

The changeover valve runs a vacuum line to the back of the waste gate actuator from what I can see.  When removing that line should it be left vented to atmosphere?  Does it make a difference if its plugged vs unplugged?

Looks like you can just disconnect all the egr related stuff and run it normally. "Normal" routing would have a pressure line from the turbo to the waste gate actuator then one from the intake to the lda.

Venting the waste gate line would disable the waste gate. You would want to plug it or install a manual boost controller in line.

Leave it vented to atmosphere. That side applies vacuum to the wastegate to open it during low load times to increase fuel economy (I think). Maybe it's just emissions. Blocking it may render the wastegate useless.

I did more reading on it and it seems to me if its blocked the wastegate actuator has to work against that secondary portion of the actuator.  I have it like that now and it boosts up pretty nicely,  let's see what happens with it vented.

Good to be back in a diesel Tyler  ;)
