help me sort out an issue
« on: September 23, 2015, 09:04:17 pm »
ok so here is the deal, car was timed right before putting on 1000 miles on fresh engine. 1.00 mm per bently spec for the ecodiesel. injectors rebuilt and pop pressures matched within 50 psi. well I had an issue with injector return lines popping off so I added a second return instead of the plug. this line now bypasses the banjo on the pump. car ran great no issues until around 100 miles later. I noticed white smoke (raw fuel) and  a rough idle. now the thing runs a lot better with the cold start pulled out. so what I am kinda thinking is maybe the timing got a lil out of whack. so this weekend going to check that out. possible timing belt stretch? what kind of insight do ya have on this issue?

If it runs better with the cold start then timing is off.  Perhaps some of the lower adjustment bolts have come loose after the 1000 miles and just coincided with the the injector lines being worked on.

I'd check for air in the lines (to/from IP) first.

I doesn't take very much for some to smoke and there have been times when I did the timing fine but forgot that bolts through the IP pulley.  Only one of three on the face flange but it sure didn't take 1000 miles to have it show up loose and out of time.

Glad ya got it.
