need a new or excellent condition OEM windshield washer reservoir for a 1981 VW Pickup
Wayne
There a couple kinds.
Passenger side or driver's?
Drivers side.
BTW: Looked on Samba, found only on MK1 W/S washer reservoir add, placed 2012, recently updated. Unclear picture, but does not mount like mine. Mine fits up into bracket, and has "screwing" ring that holds tank to bracket via plastic threads. My reservoir does tank and pump stuff, but the ring threads deteriorated. 35 year old plastic part. If I find one that last that long again, I will be good.
I would suggest you go to NAPA and for something like 9 bucks you can get their generic overflow bottle. I use one on my veg oil system to contain the coolant that circulates in the tank to warm it up. I put a 12 volt pump in line and it works great. Holds about 3 quarts I think. You should be able to mount it in the same place as the original and use the pump from it.
Check it out in the meantime we will keep looking. Seems there are parts cars all over here so maybe we can round one up.
The MK1 GTIs and Rabbits along with others used the same "squareish"resevoir for the rear wiper.
It's often in better shape because it was kept out of the sun inside the back of the car.
Maybe check the vortex for someone parting a car.
They haven't really been declare as "rare" yet but are getting there quick.
My cousin has an 81 pickup sitting in a field. Ill take a look at what type of washer reservoir it has.
