If a person put a AAZ pump on a AHU tdi.. how far could they push the pump as far as torque output? If I wanted more Power, what would I have to do as far as swapping out parts to make more along the lines of 230lbs of torque?
I am doing reserch, into doing a MTDI and what pumps I can use..
It will be a laaaame weak engine with an AAZ pump. The AAZ pump has a smaller pump head than a TDI and won't even come close to stock TDI power.
You'd be MUCH better off using a Land Rover 200TDI or 300TDI pump. They bolt on with a little work, have an 11mm head (which is the "big" size for TDIs) and already have a suitable advance curve to run a TDI. Getting 230 ft-lbs will be reasonably easy with that pump, provided you have the other supporting mods you need (turbo/injectors).
so there is not way to turn the AAZ pump up or mod it easly to make that kind of power?
no its not designed for direct injection it can not create enough injection pressure to properly run a tdi.
It's more a matter of fuel quantity than pressure. Regardless, the combination of the 9mm plunger, control collar lever assembly, accel lever offset, inadequate dynamic advance, etc... all combine to make for a poor mTDI pump.
With an unmodified pump the setup will return very little power and good mpg.
i have decited to get a pump made.. as i need to make over 200lbs of torque for the TDI to work.
Sounds like a good plan. The Rover pumps can often be had somewhat cheaply but if you have a definite power goal and can afford a custom pump that will be a good way to go.
